How to Help Your Teen Organise and Clean Their Bedroom
If you live with a teenager, you know how hard it can be for them to keep their room neat. Assuming that most teenagers have this phase of life, the tips I will share with you are to help your child clean and organize their room and assuming you are fortunate enough, they will keep it that way in the future.
Remember, your teen’s brain is loaded with many thoughts and getting their room tidy is the last of them. Keeping their room clean and new, albeit it does not top their priority list, can assist them with getting their life on the right track.
So in the accompanying article, I will share a few suggestions and ideas to restore your teen’s space to its original condition and create a space they will fall in adoration with.
Be a Team
Before you begin, sit with your teen and discuss what has to be done throughout the cleaning.
Many teens will take advantage of their parents’ assistance, so try not to sound too bossy. Please point out the benefits of having a tidy room and listen to their ideas.
Remember, you have to respect their suggestions. Avoid dealing with the cleaning project on your own because a few teens think of this act as an invasion of their privacy. So designate a time to do the cleaning together, but when both of you are relaxed and calm with the goal that you can have enough time to complete the work.
Step by Step
Not only is the step-by-step strategy exceptionally efficient, but it can also assist with creating a cleaning routine for the teen to follow. Do one errand at a time till you are done.
Start with making the bed. It does make the space look more organized.
Let some daylight in by opening the curtains.
Collect everything from the floors and what conceals under the bed. If it is a thorough clean-up, make heaps of the collected items – one for recyclable items, another for the keepsakes, etc.
Remove the clutter like old magazines, papers, etc.
Overlay the clean clothes and toss the dirty ones in the laundry basket. Have your teen develop the habit of storing their clothes the right way. Assist them with organizing their wardrobe, getting free of all those clothes which are exhausted, torn or do not fit anymore.
Get free of everything your teen does not utilize anymore.
Assuming there is anything broken, fix it or replace it.
Make sure to dust off all surfaces.
Clear the hardwood floors and vacuum the carpets.
Empty the trash canisters.
Storage Ideas
Furnish your teen with their hamper for the room.
If the space is large enough, put a work area with a reuse receptacle underneath.
Utilize the space under the bed to store stuff, too.
Use retires and snares for various stuff like hats, bags, accessories, scarves, etc.
Plastic boxes and receptacles are great for storing shoes, notebooks, scarves, etc.
Shelves can keep books and magazines organized.
A portable make-up caddy is ideal for your teenage daughter’s stash of make-up.
As you can see, it is easy to include your teens in the cleaning project, but you must always respect their ideas and privacy. Soon enough, your child will get into cleaning independently without your assistance.
